Launched in 1974 the MR50 Elsinore was designed as a ‘Pit Bike’ or ‘Paddock Bike’ resembling the larger Elsinore competition bike’s. Daytona Orange although really closer to red was the colour scheme for the first KO version, followed by the K1 version in 1975 with a silver tank and red mudguards.
They quickly achieved almost cult status, and were the subject of much attention by custom shops with longer swing arms being one of the more popular conversion’s.
Today they are revered in the World of moto-cross classic’s and a favourite still in the paddocks, particularly in the USA, where the vast majority were sold. Those original youngsters from the 1970’s now adults and wishing to hang on to those memories of thrashing up and down the pit lane while dad was racing.
They and 50cc motocross machines from other manufacturers, especially Yamaha, gave birth to Junior moto-cross as we have come to know it today.
